So why have we decided to take the bus to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018?

It’s a very good question. Are we mad? Well yes, but all the best people are…

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

The Theatre Bus has been designed as a space to enable amazing things to happen and to benefit as many people as we can from Bath, Bristol and the South West region. Our tag line is “A Vehicle for Expression”, and we want companies who perhaps would not normally be able to get the opportunity to go to Edinburgh to be able to have a chance to experience the largest arts festival in the world.

With that in mind we are teaming up with Zenith Youth Theatre Company who will be taking forty young people from the local area and four different productions up to Edinburgh to perform on the bus. This is an incredible opportunity for us to help support and inspire the next generation of theatre makers and we’re incredibly proud to be able to help them out in this way.

Prior to Edinburgh we will take the bus on a rural tour of villages around Bath to showcase the four pieces by Zenith Youth Theatre before taking them up to Edinburgh. This is in keeping with our mantra of taking arts into the heart of communities.

We plan to programme 10 shows a day on the bus for the duration of the festival and we will be looking to support other local companies and helping them to come and perform with us on the bus.
Zenith will be with us for the first week doing 4 shows a day (a musical and four plays).

Zenith Youth Theatre Company are currently fundraising to enable them to make this project happen.
